About the cast
JAMES RANSONE (Chester)
James Ransone, best known for his tour de force performances in HBO's THE WIRE and GENERATION KILL currently stars in TANGERINE, directed by Sean Baker which debuted at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. His prior film with Baker STARLET, earned Ransone an Independent Spirit Award in 2013. He most recently completed filming Ti West's IN A VALLEY OF VIOLENCE with Ethan Hawke and John Travolta; the latest installment of the SINISTER franchise in which he returns as the lead; and MR RIGHT opposite Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick - all slated for release in 2015. Last year, he received critical acclaim for his New York theatre debut in SMALL ENGINE REPAIR, written by John Pollono starring opposite James Badge Dale and Keegan Allen. An actor's actor, Ransone has created indelible performances opposite such Hollywood heavyweights as Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Channing Tatum, Russell Crowe, Al Pacino, Josh Brolin and Mark Wahlberg. As well as starring in numerous cable series, Ransone has proven to be a loyal favorite with both director Spike Lee (in INSIDE MAN, RED HOOK SUMMER, OLDBOY) and David Simon with roles in all three of his award-winning HBO series including TREME. A former musician and film school dropout, the Baltimore born Ransone repeatedly delivers searing, unforgettable performances making him standout amongst his contemporaries, without ever sacrificing his blue collar roots.
MYA TAYLOR (Alexandra)
Mya Taylor was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She started her music training at age 8 and quickly became the choir lead at Terry High School, Houston, TX. Her music inspirations are Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, and Tamar Braxton. As a singer/performer, she has performed in few clubs in LA such as Motherload and a few clubs in Burbank. She has recently turned her sights towards acting. Before TANGERINE, Mya appeared in the short "Hollywood Wasteland" by Bissonica Entertainment.
KITANA KIKI RODRIGUEZ (Sin-Dee)
Kitana Kiki Rodriguez was born on May 12 1988. She is from San Bernardino CA and lives in Hollywood CA. TANGERINE is her acting debut; prior to the film, she worked at an HIV/AIDS research center as a health educator.
KARREN KARAGULIAN (Razmik)
Karren Karagulian is no stranger to independent film. Having been a staple in every feature directed by Sean Baker ( FOUR LETTER WORDS, TAKE OUT, PRINCE OF BROADWAY, STARLET for which he won a Robert Altman Award at  Independent Spirit Awards  as part of ensemble cast ), Karagulian's "every-man" person spans more than a decade.
Currently, he can be seen in Matthew Barney's RIVER OF FUNDAMENT and as part of Eric Bogosian's web monologue project, “100 Monologues.” He is also the star as well as co-writer of Angelina Nikonova's second feature, WELCOME HOME. Karren once again reunites with Sean Baker in TANGERINE as Razmik.
MICKEY O’HAGAN (Dinah)
Mickey O'Hagan is a New York City native who has appeared in other Sean Baker films including the award-winning STARLET.  She appeared on the MTV series "Warren the Ape" and recently starred in "Test," which will debut at the 2015 Dam Short Film Festival. Mickey has lent her voice to hundreds of TV and radio spots as well as providing voiceovers for the Investigative Discovery Channel. She is currently putting the finishing touches on her latest screenplay which has its roots in classic horror.

SEAN BAKER (Director/Editor/Co-Cinematographer/Co-Writer)
Sean Baker is a director, writer, producer known for the Spirit Award nominated films TAKE OUT and PRINCE OF BROADWAY. His film STARLET (winner of the Robert Altman Spirit Award) marked the lead role debut of Dree Hemingway and was released in North America by Music Box Films. He is also one of the co-creators of the puppet comedy series "Greg the Bunny" (IFC/FOX) and its subsequent spin-off, MTV's "Warren the Ape."
CHRIS BERGOCH (Co-Writer, Co-Producer)
Chris Bergoch collaborated on all of the IFC and FOX incarnations of "Greg the Bunny" along with its MTV spinoff "Warren the Ape". Chris is co-writer/associate producer of STARLET (winner of the Robert Altman Spirit Award), released in North America by Music Box Films, as well as co-producer on "Dealing". He is following up TANGERINE with a musical adventure he wrote and directed. His next collaboration with Sean Baker is currently being written.
RADIUM CHEUNG HKSC (Co-Producer, Co-Cinematographer)
Radium Cheung, an active member in the U.S. film community for 18 years, has taken part on many acclaimed motion pictures. Radium photographed and co-produced Sean Baker's internationally acclaimed STARLET. Since then, he lensed LOITERING WITH INTENT with prolific American writer/director/novelist Adam Rapp, currently being released in cinemas; collaborated with fellow cinematographer Richard Rutkowski on popular Dreamworks/FX TV series THE AMERICANS; produced psychological thriller YOU WERE NEVER HERE starring Mirille Enos, Vincent Piazza and Sam Shepard. TANGERINE is his forth collaboration with Baker.
DUPLASS BROTHERS PRODUCTIONS
After a series of micro-budget Sundance shorts in 2003 and 2004, quadruple-threat brothers Jay and Mark Duplass - who write, direct, produce and act - premiered their first feature THE PUFFY CHAIR at Sundance in 2005. THE PUFFY CHAIR was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards, won the Emerging Vision Award at the SXSW Film Festival, and was jointly distributed by Roadside Attractions and Netflix. The brothers’ second feature BAGHEAD played at the 2008 Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, and was distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in July of the same year. In 2010, Fox Searchlight released their Jonah Hill and John C. Reilly dramedy CYRUS to the highest per screen average of any film that year.  CYRUS, which garnered rave reviews, was followed by the acclaimed 2012 Paramount Vantage release of JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME, which starred Jason Segel, Ed Helms, and Susan Sarandon, and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Also in 2012, Mark and Jay re-teamed with Fox Searchlight on the release of the comedy THE DO DECA PENTATHLON.
Jay and Mark have also produced several acclaimed and award-winning films through their Duplass Brothers Productions banner. Among the highlights are Colin Trevorrow’s SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, Charlie McDowell’s THE ONE I LOVE, Katie Aselton’s BLACK ROCK and THE FREEBIE, Jacob Vaughan’s BAD MILO and the upcoming 2015 films CREEP and ADULT BEGINNERS. Mark and Jay are also known for their work in front of the camera as actors. Mark has appeared in a number of award-winning studio and independent films and the FX comedy show THE LEAGUE. Both brothers can be seen in regular recurring roles on Fox's THE MINDY PROJECT. Jay is also a regular in the Amazon original series THE TRANSPARENT with Jeffrey Tambor. The Duplasses are currently in post-production on the HBO show TOGETHERNESS, which will premiere in early 2015.
DARREN DEAN (Producer)
Darren Dean is an award-winning writer-director-producer who, along with frequent collaborator Sean Baker, was nominated for the John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Award in 2009 for co-writing and producing indie darling PRINCE OF BROADWAY. His follow-up as producer, 2011's celebrated international co-production KINYARWANDA yielded the World Audience Award at Sundance, as well as earning him an NAACP Image Award nomination. His most recent producing efforts, H.O.M.E. and PIONEER HIGH, will join tangerine on the festival circuit in 2015. Currently, he continues to develop several projects for both the big and small screen, including Will Eisner's legendary graphic novel A Contract with God. Dean is also an educator at New York Film Academy.
SHIH-CHING TSOU (Producer/Costume Designer)
Shih-Ching Tsou is a New York City based filmmaker. She co-wrote, co-directed, and co-produced TAKE OUT with Sean Baker, which nominated for John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards in 2009. Continuing working with Baker, Tsou is also one of the Executive Producers on STARLET.
KARRIE AND MARCUS COX (Producers)
Karrie and Marcus Cox founded Through Films in 2008 as a vehicle for Karrie’s acting and writing endeavors.  The company strives to produce meaningful motion pictures that captivate, influence and entertain audiences. Their tenure at Through Films includes the development, production and distribution of projects such as Los Encinos (Karrie Cox), Homeland Nation (Rickey Medlocke, Lynyrd Skynyrd) Tangerine (Sean Baker), KICKS (Justin Tipping) and Adult Beginners (Ross Katz). Through Films has a diverse slate, several films in development, and are quickly establishing a reputation for high quality projects and outstanding original content.
